8vo (220 x 356 mm). xii, 396, 32 ad pp. Frontispiece and portrait. Folding map with route hand-colored. Original cloth, spine gilt-lettered.

FIRST EDITION, edited by the author's father from Wills' original journals. Wills was second-in-command in the Burke expedition. Both Wills and Burke perished near the end of their return journey from being the first Europeans to cross the Australian continent from north to south.
