8vo (187 x 109 mm). viii [i.e. iv], 72, 136, 179, [1] pp. Title page printed in red and black, woodcut initials, head and tailpieces. 19th-century calf and marbled boards, spines gilt. Lacking frontispiece, large chip to one leaf repaired and with missing text supplied in early manuscript, lengthy annotation from early owner to f.f.e.p., a few period annotations in margins, boards worn, upper cover starting.

FIRST EDITION. This purported true account is actually a novel by the English writer and bookseller William Rufus Chetford (ODNB). Sabin 23723.
