12mo (160 x 100 mm). 264 pp. Period vellum, spine lettered in manuscript. Repair to blank area of title, some toning/dampwrinkling, old, neat underlining, soiling to vellum.

Bouvet was one of the six Jesuits who were the first French missionaries to China in 1687. At the time of this publication, Bouvet was Emperor Kangxi's envoy to France, the following year he returned to the Emperor's court.
