ROTHSCHILD MISCELLANY.

FISHOF, IRIS; BEIT-ARIE, MALACHI, et al. The Rothschild Miscellany. London: Facsimile Editions, 1989.
2 volumes, including commentary. 4to (205 x 154). Illustrated throughout, hand-applied gilt. Original reddish-brown morocco, facsimile volume with 4 silver clasps, both volumes with morocco-edged cloth slipcase, facsimile volume with one side hinged. A few stray marks to covers, else fine.

LIMITED EDITION, no 348 of 500 copies. Includes original prospectus. The original Rothschild Miscellany, now housed in the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, was commissioned by Italian Jew Moses ben Yekuthiel Hakohen in 1479 and covers nearly every custom of Jewish religious and secular life of the day. The facsimile is impressive for its detail - from the thickness of the imitation vellum down to the pinholes and worm trails.
