Title-page printed in red and black. 46 full-page engraved plates after Antonio Tempesta printed with typographic borders and with letterpress on the versos. 18th century calf. Some browning or light foxing, marginal repairs to B4, rebacked and recornered, binding quite scuffed.

RARE WORK ON THE INSTRUMENTS OF MARTYRDOM, a fairly gruesome treatise on the Roman persecution of Christians. Brunet II, 1468.
