Folio (319 x 205 mm). *8 2*6 3*4 +10 A-V8 X12 Y-Z8 2A-3C8. 13 pp manuscript table at rear reproducing Giovanni Gelli's index from a 1636-37 edition. Woodcut portrait of Dante on title, woodcut illustrations and historiated initials throughout, woodcut printer's device. Late 17th/early 18th century calf, gilt floral borders and cornerpieces, raised bands, gilt in panels. Old dampstaining extending from margins throughout, title repaired with 1 1/2 inch strip to foremargin, 17th century marginalia throughout, spine rubbed.
Provenance: Bernardine Murphy (bookplate).
FIRST SANSOVINO EDITION, and the first to include the commentaries of Landino and Vellutello together. The numerous woodcut illustrations are from the 1544 edition of Marcolini.
