COLLECTION OF FORTY-TWO MEDALLIC PORTRAITS OF SHAKESPEARE and three related items, comprising much of the recorded English medallic series with additional English and some Continental pieces mostly bearing portraits of Shakespeare, in a variety of metals (gold (1), silver, bronze, copper and white metal), ranging from the Dassier medal of c. 1750, and the Jubilee Medal of 1769, a number of medals commemorating the tercentenary of Shakespeare's birth, to the M. de Bus bronze medal of 1976, various sizes, c.1750-1976

The collection, which makes a fine cabinet display, and is interesting for the changing medallic interpretations of the Bard over two and a half centuries, includes medals by Dassier, Allen and Moore, J.J.
