probably Southern Spain, 12th Century

with inverted pear-shaped body, sloping shoulder and truncated slightly flaring neck, the body with a frieze of kufic inscription in green, the neck with palmettes and stylised motifs,the strap handle with a diagonal bands

Few complete ceramics from 12th Century Islamic Spain are known, with the majority in fragments. Examples in the cuerda seca technique were excavated at the Alcazaba in Malaga (Luis M.
