Two Byzantine sgraffiato pottery Bowls
12th Century

each of deep rounded form on a short foot, incised through a white glaze, the first with a roundel containing a cruciform motif surrounded by a band containing a scrolling foliate vine and two further bands containing undulating lines with circle motifs in the interstices; the second with a central roundel containing a stylised palmette motif surrounded by a band of radiating foliate motifs and two further bands containing undulating lines with circle motifs in the interstices
each 20 cm. diam.(2)
