gouache and gold on paper, panel at top with inscription apparently in Hindi or Urdu in nasta'liq script, verso a Persian quatrain in nasta'liq script in praise of a king, by Khosh Raqam-Khan, dated AH 1191/AD 1778-79, on a marbled ground, green border

Footnotes

The scribe of the calligraphic exercise must be a royal scribe, either a Mughal one or at the court of Lucknow, honoured with the title Khosh Raqam Khan.
