A gem-set enamelled silver-gilt Spice Box
Rajasthan, circa 1850

comprising six octagonal containers with domed hinged covers inset with large white sapphires, decorated in blue, green and pink enamels with peacocks within cross pattern borders, resting on six legs, the underside with floral enamelled decoration in similar colours, the locking mechanism in the form of an open work flowerhead cluster finial inset with white sapphires above an open work circular base
12.3 cm diam.
