Footnotes

The names of the Seven Sleepers were often regarded as having talismanic qualities, and compositions featuring their names were often displayed in homes for protection against disease or other misfortune.

Baghçe Saray was the capital of the Crimean Khanate until 1783, and subsequently was a focus for Crimean Tartar nationalism.
