A large firman with the tughra of Sultan Selim III (reg. 1789-1807), relating to the rights of various parties in a waqf endowment
Ottoman Turkey, probably Constantinople, dated AH 1211/AD 1796, or AH 1221/AD 1806

Ottoman Turkish manuscript on paper, 37 lines to the page written in small divani script in black ink, a large tughra in gold above text, tears, some staining affecting small areas of text, creased, framed
552 x 463 mm.

Footnotes

The document relates to the transition of the rights over the waqf institution in the city of Antep. Control of the institution had been in the hands of Fatima Khatun, the daughter of Muhammad Beg bin Ghauri, and was now being divided between the successors of Sultan Ghauri.

The tughra appears to be a later (though skilful) addition.
