Ottoman Turkey, probably Constantinople, dated AH 1215/AD 1800-1801

Arabic manuscript on paper, 295 leaves, 15 lines to the page written in clear naskhi script in black ink with diacritics and vowel points in red and black, gold discs decorated with alternating red and blue dots, inner margins ruled in red and gold, catchwords in wide outer borders, illuminated devices in outer margins, sura headings written in thuluth script in white within rectangular illuminated panels, one double-page illuminated frontispiece in colours and gold, trimmed, a few folios towards the end with oil staining otherwise in good condition, brown morocco with stamped central medallions of gilt leather onlay, repaired, doublures of brown leather, marbled paper flyleaves, with flap
150 x 100 mm.
