Arabic manuscript on paper, 115 leaves, 23 lines to the page written in a cursive script in black ink, significant words and sentences underlined in red, catchwords, occasional commentaries written horizontally and diagonally in a cursive script in black ink in outer borders, slightly soiled, some waterstaining mostly restricted to outer borders, brown morocco with marbled paper covers, worn, rebacked, with flap, 205 x 140 mm.; and al-Baqlani, Sharh kitab al-istibsar fi kashf asrar al-batiniyyah wa'l mu'tazilah, end of vol. III, dated AH 800/AD 1397-98, Arabic manuscript on cream-coloured paper, 74 leaves, 29 lines to the page written in neat naskhi script in black ink, significant sentences and words picked out in red or written in bolder script, worming to inner margins affecting most of the catchwords, occasional commentaries written horizontally and diagonally in a later cursive script, discoloration, edges frayed, some waterstaining, modern aubergine-coloured leather
