A Qajar green stone seal; and a carnelian seal
Persia, dated AH 1322 and 1317

An exceptionally large Qajar gold-mounted green stone Seal, Persia, inscribed Mohammed Husayn Ilkhani Bakhtiyari AH 1322/AD 1904 the finely pierced gold top set with small ruby encasing a square shaped engraved tablet, the seal 33 mm. square; the mount 40mm. high; together with Another large Qajar yellow gold-mounted carnelian Seal, Persia, inscribed Mohammed Husayn Bakhtiyari Sepahdar AH 1317/AD 1899, of similar composition to the previous piece, the seal 28 x 30 mm.

It is rare to find seals of this size in the Qajar period. Both pieces are notable for the fine quality of the gold work.
