A rare early Kubachi blue and white pottery Jug
Persia, 16th Century

of baluster form, with simple curved handle attached to the neck and body, and decorated in cobalt blue with a pattern of large flower heads to body and single flower sprays to neck, the rim with band of hatched designs
20.5 cm. high

Kubachi wares are now generally attributed to Tabriz. The elements of the design drawn on Chinese originals. The potteries were set up by craftsmen coming from Samarkand in the 15th Century.
