Egypt or Syria, 14th Century

of shallow rounded form on a short foot, decorated in cobalt-blue and black on a white ground under a transparent glaze, the centre with a stylised rosette within two concentric bands, the cavetto with a frieze of six large palmettes with floral sprays and triangular sections above, the outer borders with plain bands, the exterior with radiating lines
22.3 cm. diam.
