In 1980, Raza's works drastically changed from the hues of the French landscape to the colour and forms of his homeland, India. As his style evolved, Raza began the 1980s with a mixture of his impressionist learnings merged with the simplistic geometric patterns of horizontal lines and circles. His inspiration came from the hills above the Narmada River in India, to the spiritual seed of existence, where life begins and ends, which is represented as Bindu. The basic and natural forms Raza began to use in his works developed into a sharper line in the late 1980s, similar to that of Piet Mondrian and Frank Stella.
