A large Kashan figural lustre pottery Dish
Persia, 13th Century

with rounded sides and flaring rim, decorated in a brownish gold lustre with cobalt-blue, the centre with a seated male figure reserved on a palmette ground, the sides with bands of palmettes, scrolling foliate vines and roundels, the rim with a frieze of cursive inscription, the exterior cobalt-blue, the base with a fragmentary label
35 cm. diam.
