A large gold Pendant set with rudraksha beads and lapis
South India, 18th/19th Century

the whole in the form of a shrine, with domed upper section enclosing a yoni and lingam on a rectangular pedestal with everted sides, the upper section set with an arch of freshwater pearls, enclosing an arch of rudraksha beads, the gold yoni set with rubies, the lingam in the form of an oval lapis stone set in a spray of gold openwork leaves terminating in blossoms, the pedestal set with a horizontal row of rudraksha beads and below a further row of freshwater pearls, to base a series of hanging rudraksha beads drilled with gold wire and capped gold finials
