An probably Umayyad anonymous glass vessel stamp with "pious" invocation for the artisan and the consumer
Egypt,

of pale yellow colour
26mm. diam., 5.05gr.

Footnotes

Four(?) line inscription:

'ughfur Allah/ li-man yasna' [wa]/ [li-man] yashtari...
"God forgive/ the one who produces and/ who buys."

Very few other stamps with the same kind of "invocation" have been published: see Jungfleisch (1947) for two other items. The present piece is interesting in the context of the use of glass stamps in general, as a reminder that the market's (suq )activities distract one from worshipping God.

Unpublished.
