27mm. diam. 6.47gr.

Footnotes

Provenance: Bought from Julia Schottlander.

Five line inscription:

mimma amara bi-hi/ 'abd Allah 'Abd/ Allah Amir al-mu'minin/ li-l-(?) yumti'a (?) li-Hafs (?)/...

"Of what ordered/ the Servant of God 'Abd/ Allah Amir of the Faithful/ for the pleasure of Hafs...(?)"

The fourth line of the inscription is problematic and never attested. It could start with li-l "for" (?), followed by a verbal yumti'a(?) ("he rejoices") and then li- "for" again(?) a person "Hafs"(?) or a commodity "hummus"(?).
