Four large tinned copper Dishes
India, 17th Century

comprising three of shallow form with wide everted rims, the first engraved with a flowerhead to the well, the rim with a band of pole medallions containing palmettes and foliate motifs; the second with a central flowerhead surrounded by stylised palmettes, the rim with a band of pole medallions containing palmettes, one with inscription; the third with a central roundel containing swirling radiating bands with floral vines, surrounded by alternating medallions containing flowers and two-tailed fish, and one pole-medallion with owner's inscription, the rim with cartouches containing flowers interlinked by floral vines; and a fourth of deep rounded form with everted rim, engraved to the well with a rounded containing scrolling vines with perching birds, the rim with an undulating vine, with owner's inscription to the reverse and dated AH 1098/AD 1685-86
