the bucket of rounded form, with inscription to rim, rounded handle with hook terminals, and chain; the bell of triangular form with large inscription to base; the vessel with low sloping shoulder and raised neck tapering slightly towards an everted rim, inscribed to body
the bucket 17 cm. diam.(3)

Inscriptions: To the bucket in Arabic: man hafara bi'ran li-a/khihu fa-qadd waq'a fihu 'He who digs a well for his brother, will fall in it'; to the bell, possibly for a school, in Arabic, inscribed in a poor hand a version of:
al-khatt yabqa zamana ba'd katibihu wa katib al-khatt taht al-ardh madfun
'Writing remain for sometime after its writer/ And the scribe of the writing is buried under the earth'; to the vessel: Persian verses (a few attributed to Sa'di) in the form of a munajat asking God to protect the bearer from sins and forgive him for his sins.

The piece may be attributed on the basis of its inscriptions to Sultanate India, 15th-16th Century.
