the carpet weight in the form of a round dome with bud-shaped finial resting on a square base, engraved with chevron pattern; the spittoon with a wide flaring rim tapering towards a thin waisted neck on a bell-shaped base, engraved floral decoration to inside of rim and base
carpet weight 12 cm. high; spittoon 7.5 cm. high(2)

Footnotes

These heavy weights were placed on the four corners of floor coverings to keep them in place. Usually on square or polygonal bases, the round domes were shaped to resemble the cupolas of Muslim tombs.

The floral decoration on the spittoon, now without inlay, can be compared to M.Zebrowski, Gold, Silver and Bronze, London, 1997, pl. 241 and the shape to pl. 263.
