Viscount Castlereagh, Charles Stewart Henry Vane-Tempest-Stewart, ordered two Boss rook rifles nos. 4817 and 4818 in the year 1900. He was born on the 13th May, 1878 joined the Royal Horse Guards and became Lord Londonderry in 1915. He bought this particular gun for his wife Edith and her monogram appears on the gild escutcheon on the butt. The Londondery family were excellent customers of Boss and there are frequent references to them in the Boss's Order Ledgers
