A Rare Russian Hunting Dagger
By The Zlatoust Arms Factory, Circa 1880-90

With bright highly polished double-edged blade of flattened diamond section with slender central fuller on each side, etched along one side with 'Zlatoust' in Russian within a decorative panel against a ground of flowering foliage, and along the other with a bear in a landscape framed by foliage, hilt comprising shaped quillon-block and beaked pommel both etched with a symmetrical design of foliage on each side, button quillons, and figured grip chequered along each side, in original wooden scabbard covered in black leather with shaped steel locket and chape etched en suite, the former with rabbits on one side and a bear and gundog on the other, the latter with two hinds on one side, and with a ring for suspension (minor rust patination)
