A Continental Mameluke-Hilted Officer's Sword
Early 9th Century

With curved fullered watered blade double-edged at the clipped-back point and etched and gilt over half its length on both sides with martial trophies against a granular ground, hilt (knuckle-chain missing) comprising quillon-block with pointed langets and faceted quillons each with bud-shaped terminal, scrolled grip with steel-mounted piercing through the pommel for a sword-knot, and rounded ivory grip-scales, with its brass scabbard (suspension mount broken through, a blockage prevents the blade fully entering the scabbard) with punched and chased foliate decoration, steel shoe (rust damaged), and ring for suspension (the other missing, steel parts with some surface rust)
