A German Cavalry Officer's Sabre
Early 19th Century

With curved fullered blade (rust damaged along the cutting edge) double-edged at the point, the forte etched and gilt along both sides against a blued ground with crowned crossed hammers between martial trophies, the back of the forte etched with bladesmith's details 'B. Pritze Schwerdtfeger in Breslau', brass hilt with three bars swept-up to join the knuckle-guard, pommel and back-piece in one, and wire-bound leather-covered grip (minor worming), in its black leather scabbard (worn) with shaped linear engraved brass locket, chape and suspension mount, and two rings for suspension
