A French Napoleon III Cavalry Helmet

With brass two-piece skull and peaks, the former (minor dents, one side with small split) with embossed brass crest, embossed Medusa head at the front surmounted by a 'shaving brush', and with falling black horsehair plume, the left side of the skull with brass plume-holder carrying cut red cock's feather plume in embossed gilt-metal mount, brass frontal plate with crowned 'N' above crossed laurel branches, and circular brass supporters each embossed with a flower-head and carrying a leather-lined chin-chain, the interior with adjustable leather lining (some wear)
