A Very Rare French Carabinier Officer's Cuirass

Of brass, the breast-plate with medial ridge and large multi-rayed oval brass plate bearing the Imperial French eagle grasping thunderbolts within tied branches of laurel and oak, and secured by two wing-headed screws on the inside, the edges with silvered border mounts secured by screws with fluted domed brass heads, back-plate en suite and with a silver mount at each shoulder (one split, the other repaired), each with lion-mask boss and carrying three silver chains against a red leather strap terminating in a brass clasp faced with an embossed silver grenade and engaging with a staple on the breast-plate, and with replacement leather belt
