A Very Rare Colonial 28-Bore Silver-Mounted Flintlock Gun In Dutch Style
Mid-Late 18th Century, Probably Dutch East Indies

With finely twist russet barrel in two stages, slightly flared and turned at the muzzle and decorated with engraved gold-encrusted foliage at the muzzle and breech inhabited by birds, gold-encrusted fore-sight formed as a bird, slender gilt sighting rib, and gold-lined touch-hole, tang, rounded lock with gold-lined pan, and cock all decorated with engraved gold-encrusted foliage, side-nails each with gilt head, moulded hardwood full stock carved in low relief with foliage behind the barrel tang and rear ramrod-pipe, mounts cast and chased with foliage and comprising shaped side-plate involving rocailles, escutcheon, butt-plate with foliate heel tang, and trigger-guard with foliate finials, silver ramrod-pipes and fore-end band, and original silver-tipped ramrod
