A Balkan 16-Bore Miquelet-Lock Gun (Arnautka)
19th Century, Probably Albanian

With octagonal sighted barrel with punched borders at the slightly flared petalled muzzle and retained by a foliate engraved brass barrel band, the top flat at the breech stamped with circular barrelsmith's mark and punched spurious inscription behind the back-sight, foliate engraved tang, characteristic lightly engraved lock with maker's mark, full stock of characteristic form (fore-stock incomplete along each side) almost entirely covered in iron panels secured by pins and lightly engraved with scrollwork in places, slender 'fish-tail' butt en suite, engraved trigger-guard with slender baluster tang, two iron suspension rings, and original iron ramrod with turned baluster tip
