An Indian 14-Bore Percussion Jezail
Sind, Mid-19th Century

With russet finely twist sighted barrel with a turned girdle retaining traces of gold-inlaid lines behind the slightly flared muzzle and at the breech, the latter with traces of gold-inlaid barrelsmith's cartouches, plain tang, border engraved flat lock decorated with foliate scrollwork, hammer en suite, figured three-quarter stock (fore-end with some damage and slightly incomplete) with characteristic fish-tail butt stamped 'F43384' over '13' on one side, brass mounts chased with designs of foliage filled with black pigment and comprising shaped barrel bands, butt-mounts and a domed cover around the barrel tang, iron trigger-guard, brass sling loops, and iron ramrod
