A Persian Circular Steel Dhal
Qajar, 19th Century

Of convex form, with applied brass border and four domed steel bosses, the outer surface chiselled with Persian horseman and figures in floral landscapes, retaining traces of silver-damascening and divided by gold-damascened cartouche-shaped panels issueing from a central rosette en suite, the outer border with ovoidal and circular panels of chiselled silver-damascened Persian verses in cursive script between borders of chiselled foliage and running arabesques
