A Cased 54-Bore Tranter Patent Third Model Five-Shot Self-Cocking Percussion Revolver
Retailed By Cogswell & Harrison, 223 & 224 Strand, London, No. 18633,T., Circa 1865

With blued octagonal sighted barrel engraved around the muzzle and with foliage at the breech, border engraved top-strap with retailer's name and address, bright cylinder with knurled forward edge, blued border engraved frame, trigger-guard and oval butt-cap each decorated with scrolling foliage, bright patent double-trigger and scroll engraved rammer, blued sprung safety-stop, arbor-pin and catch, chequered figured rounded butt, and retaining most of its original finish (some areas of light rust patination): in original lined and fitted case with accessories including James Dixon & Sons powder-flask retaining some original lacquered finish, brass bullet mould, and oil bottle, the interior of the lid with retailer's trade label (stained), the exterior with circular brass escutcheon engraved with owner's name 'J.M. Tabor Esq. Royal Artillery', London proof marks
