An 18-Bore Snider Sporting Carbine
Late 19th Century

With rebrowned sighted barrel, octagonal breech becoming polygonal, pivoting breech-block, border engraved tang and flat lock all decorated with foliate scrollwork, figured half-stock (fore-end split on one side) with chequered grip (worn), engraved steel mounts including scroll trigger-guard with pineapple-shaped finial, and butt-plate numbered '491', vacant silver escutcheon, horn fore-end cap (repaired), and later brass-tipped wooden ramrod (worn overall ramrod pipes replaced)
