An Indo-Persian Kilij
18th/19th Century

With earlier curved blade double-edged at the point in front of the yelman and fullered along the back over most of its length on each side, hilt comprising steel quillon-block indistinctly etched with Qur'anic verses in nastaliq script on both sides within very faint traces of gold-damascened borders, pointed langets, and quillons with button terminals, wooden grips covered in deep purple velvet secured by three silver florets along both sides, beaded silver grip-strap, and pommel-cap en suite (knuckle-chain missing, some wear and rust patination)
