A Persian Shamshir
Qajar, 19th Century

With finely watered curved blade double-edged towards the point and cut with a wide shallow fuller bordered by narrow fullers along the back over most of its length on each side, hilt comprising watered steel quillon-block (fractured on one side) with gold-damascened borders, pointed langets and downbent stylised Makara-head quillon terminals, grip-strap damascened with gold scrollwork, and dark horn grips rising to form an arched beak-shaped pommel
