A German Gunner's Range Finder
Possibly Late 17th Century

Of brass, comprising a flat bar incised along the top on one side with maker's mark 'ME' crowned, and inscribed 'Anno 1686', the numbered scales beneath each marked 'Zoll', adjustable central bar pierced with a vertical line of pin-hole sights and with pierced shaped finial, and integral plum-bob scale on the right to 45 (retaining bracket loose), on slightly arched base pinched in at the centre on both sides
