A North German 'Landsknecht' Dagger

With tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section becoming flattened diamond towards the point, fullered rectangular ricasso, iron hilt comprising flat side-guard enclosed by a pair of side bars each of flattened circular section with flat trefoil-shaped terminal, large domed pommel of hexagonal section between a basal mount and cap en suite, the latter with button finial, and swelling grip of ovoidal section, in original wood-lined iron scabbard seamed along the back and with three raised mouldings down the front, turned baluster finial, locket-plate pierced with two apertures for the by-knife and fork, each of iron and with slightly flared handle cross-hatched along both sides, and with two fixed rings for suspension (some rust patination and copper brazing overall)
