A German Left-Hand Dagger
Late 16th/Early 17th Century

With stiletto blade of tapering stiff diamond section, rectangular ricasso struck with a mark on one side, 'B' in a shield, iron hilt comprising flattened downbent quillons with rounded terminals, small side-ring, and compressed barrel-shaped pommel with button, decorated overall with panels of chiselled foliage against finely punched grounds involving a reclining figure on the side-ring, and on the pommel with a standing figure on one side and a mask on the other, and later grip bound with twisted steel wire (some light pitting)
