A German Left-Hand Dagger
Mid-Late 16th Century

With tapering double-edged blade of slightly hollowed diamond section, rectangular ricasso hollowed for the thumb on each side, iron hilt comprising short quillons of tapering circular section with downbent fluted bud-shaped tips, side-ring swelling at the centre, compressed globular pommel cut with fluting above and below, flattened button, and later swelling wooden grip (split, some pitting overall)
