A Spanish Left-Hand Dagger
Mid-17th Century

With tapering blade double-edged over half its length to the point and retaining faint traces of etched foliate decoration on one side at the forte, rectangular ricasso indistinctly struck with a small mark, iron hilt comprising upturned shell-guard engraved with an expanded flower-head and linked at the top to two side-bars of circular section bent down around the guard to join the quillons, the latter each of circular section and with small button terminals, and compressed globular pommel with prominent button (grip missing, pitted overall)
