A Spanish Left-Hand Dagger

With tapering blade double-edged over a third of its length to the point, the back beneath the ricasso deeply notched and bordered along each side by dots and circles, the edge beyond cut with chevrons bordered by dots on either side, ricasso with edges en suite and pierced with two holes for sword-breaking, recessed for the thumb on one side, and on the other with incised initials 'JM', a punched crucifix between, hilt comprising triangular guard with turned edge, a guardapolvo on the inside pierced and chiselled with foliage (slightly incomplete), straight quillons of circular section with turned button terminals, compressed bun-shaped pommel with recessed medial groove and button finial, and swelling grip bound with twisted steel wire between Turk's heads (some light rust patination overall)
