An Italian Left-Hand Dagger
The Hilt Third Quarter Of The 16th Century

With later tapering double-edged blade cut with a deep central fuller flanked by narrow fullers over most of its length on each side and pierced with a line of graduated minute holes, fluted rectangular ricasso en suite, iron hilt comprising downswept quillons with 'fish-tail' ends chiselled with acanthus, side-ring of triangular section and fluted plummet-shaped pommel chiselled en suite, and swelling diagonally fluted grip between vertical ribs bound with twisted steel wire between Turks' heads (some light pitting)
