A Composite Left-Hand Dagger
Partly 17th Century

With tapering double-edged blade (probably adapted from a rapier blade) of triangular section cut with a waved medial ridge along one side between etched running foliage, and along the other with etched running foliage between narrow fullers, the forte etched with bladesmith's bishop's profile bust mark between initials 'PM' of Peter Münch of Solingen, iron hilt comprising horizontally curved reeded quillons of circular section with foliate button terminals, fluted side-ring with central fluted feature, compressed globular pommel chiselled with a male portrait bust within a wreath on one side and a female portrait bust within a wreath on the other, button finial, and grip bound with twisted steel wire between Turk's heads (some light pitting)
