A Gilt-Hilted Left-Hand Dagger In German Late 16th Century Style
19th Century

With robust tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section becoming diamond section at the point and with a central fuller over most if its length on each side extending from the fluted rectangular ricasso, iron hilt comprising punched and roped quillons each issueing from a monster-head and with calyx-shaped terminal, side-ring chiselled with a lion-mask, rounded calyx-shaped pommel with button, spiral-twist grip bound with plain and twisted copper wire between Turk's heads, and retaining much of its gilding
