A Composite German Quillon Dagger
Partly Late 16th Century

With tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond section, tapering rectangular ricasso cut with two flutes on each face, iron hilt comprising short forward-curving horizontal quillons each with 'mulberry' terminal and button finial, side-ring with central swelling, large pommel of compressed pyramidal form embossed with beaded decoration within incised lines, and wire-bound spirally fluted swelling grip
